This GVHD OSG is a moderated list to people who had a Bone Marrow Transplant and who suffer from Graft Versus Host Disease, mostly chronic than acute, because I think acute GVHD is more an immediate problem after the BMT which might be treated in the BMT center. Anyway, anyone touched by GVHD is WELCOME.

  Chronic GVHD involves statistically 40% of BMT'ed people, and 20% may have been suffering from it for many years. Chronic GVHD may be very disabling, sometimes severe.

  The purpose of this list is to gather on the same place people who suffer from GVHD, physicians, scientists, and everyone who is involved in GVHD. There are many links to create, a lot info to diffuse, by the way - for example - of diffusing articles about GVHD (daily management, physiopathology, classification, actual treatments, potentially usable trials, hopes in the future, etc...)

  Before launching the GVHD Online Support Group, I was on BMT-Talk, which is really a great list, I mean it. I learnt a lot on BMT-Talk about GVHD, and had contacts with marvelous people. But, even though BMT-Talk is great, it gathers people who suffer from many different diseases; a lot of topics are discussed. I had the idea with my friend Christophe - who has been suffering from chronic GVHD for 8 years - to create with the precious help of Gilles Frydmann, a very serious list exclusively devoted to GVHD, which might have - added to a convivial aspect - a scientific orientation : wouldn't that be great for GVHD Mailing List to be a square where specific info about GVHD could be found, especially about new trials around the world...

  I really don't know at all if those hopes are realistic; anyway, I'm pretty sure the GVHD OSG will be helpful for those people who suffer from chronic GVHD and are sometimes "forgoten" by the great BMT centers after a couple of years...
