| The first message below was writen by Laurel Simmons, for the mailing list BMT-Talk. I found it so true, that I asked Laurel permission to write and apply it to GVHD-OSG. |
There will be no editing of messages that are posted to GVHD-OSG, and no censorship except in extreme circumstances. There is one exception to this. I object strongly a growing Internet trend called "spamming". Spamming is net jargon for unsolicited "junk mail" being sent out to as many mailing lists and/or newsgroups as possible in one mass posting. Often, the purpose is to sell a product. Spams will be deleted. This policy does not mean that list members cannot mention a product that you have found useful. Such information could be very helpful to the readers of this list. List members should always feel free to send what they want, and if there is any questions about content we'll work it out together. Please feel free to send me a mail. |
When you 'reply' to a message, make sure you look at the header and reply to who you really want to - it is easy to accidentally reply to the list when you meant to reply to an individual - and this can be embarrassing at times, depending on your message... Be brief; reread before sending; quote just that part of the message you are replying to that is needed for clarity. No commercial postings please. Rude or inappropriate messages will not be tolerated, and could lead to cancellation of your subscription. If you have a conflict with anyone, settle it by private mail. If you are upset or angry, wait a few days before answering. Do not hold the list hostage with arguments; it only hurts the list. Humor does not carry over well in email, at times. Many people manage this by adding smiley faces at the end of a line, which can be in many forms but one typical one is :) If your signature is in a file, try to keep it reasonably short. The Internet standard is at most 4 lines, but 6 to 8 is also all right. |
